Forklifts drive directly into the rack structure to load and unload — maximum pallet density for slower-moving, high-volume stock.
Drive-in racking removes the aisle between bays: continuous rows of rail-supported lanes let a forklift drive directly into the structure to place or retrieve a pallet, stacking pallets several deep and several high in the same footprint that selective racking would need aisles for.
The trade-off is access — it’s last-in-first-out (LIFO) storage, so it suits high-volume, lower-SKU-count stock where density matters more than picking every pallet on demand: cold storage, seasonal stock and bulk raw material are the usual fits.
Indicative ranges — final sizing is confirmed against your requirement and site drawings.
| Type | Drive-in / drive-through pallet racking |
|---|---|
| Access | LIFO (drive-in) or FIFO (drive-through, two-sided) |
| Load per pallet position | Up to 1,500 kg (standard; higher on request) |
| Lane depth | 2–10+ pallets deep, engineered to your forklift and building |
| Rail height | Set to pallet height and lift-truck fork clearance |
| Frame section | Heavy-duty roll-formed upright |
| Finish | Powder coated |
| Accessories | Entry guides, rail protectors, lane identification |
Drive-in has one access aisle, so it’s LIFO; drive-through is open at both ends for FIFO retrieval — we’ll recommend based on how your stock actually rotates.
Typically 2 to 10+ pallets deep depending on your forklift’s reach and the building span — we check this against your fleet before quoting.
Not usually — drive-in works best for high-volume, low-SKU-count stock. For a wide SKU mix, selective pallet racking gives better access.
