A mobile compactor puts racking or shelving on a base that runs on rails, so instead of a fixed aisle beside every row, only one aisle needs to open at a time — the aisle moves to wherever you’re working, and every other row stays closed and stacked tight.
That typically doubles usable storage in the same floor area compared with fixed-aisle shelving, which makes compactors the usual answer when floor space is the constraint, not budget — archive rooms, cold stores and dense parts stores are the common applications.
